Introducing QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF)

In the last 3 months the UK has been left devastated following several terrorist attacks that have claimed the lives of countless victims and left many in hospital with critical injuries.

As you will be aware, whenever there is an incident like this, the initial priority is understandably to ensure public safety, which can unfortunately cause delays to the emergency services being able to reach the injured.

To help members of the public learn life-saving skills for use in these extreme situations, highly experienced military and civilian clinicians have created the citizenAID phone App and pocket guide. Designed to improve public resilience, this not-for-profit initiative has been widely publicised by media outlets including the BBC and Sky News, and has already been accessed by over a quarter of a million people since January.

To offer further support to the public, earlier this year our team of industry specialists were approached by the creators of citizenAID to develop a regulated qualification to complement the phone App and pocket guide. We were extremely proud to have been asked to work with citizenAID and together we have developed the QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF), a 3 hour qualification specifically designed to help people react safely, prioritise the injured and give life-saving first aid to victims in the event of a deliberate multiple casualty incident. An overview of the qualification can be found here.
